Wafaa Implements “Communal Wedding” Project in Gaza Strip with Support of Al-Najat Charity Society – Kuwait
16/06/2026 – Wafaa Microfinance and Capacity Building, with the grace of Allah, implemented the “Communal Wedding” Project in the Gaza Strip with the generous support of Al-Najat Charity Society in the State of Kuwait. The project forms part of Wafaa’s ongoing efforts to strengthen social cohesion and support the groups most affected by the difficult humanitarian conditions in Gaza. This initiative was launched as an urgent humanitarian and social response aimed at supporting young people affected by the war, enabling them to establish stable families, and contributing to the restoration of the Palestinian social fabric.
The project included the organization of a communal wedding ceremony benefiting 30 grooms and 30 brides from among the most vulnerable and war-affected youth. In addition, beneficiaries received a comprehensive package of financial, social, and logistical support covering essential needs associated with establishing married life, ranging from housing and clothing to food supplies and household items. The intervention sought to alleviate the economic burdens faced by newly married couples amid the ongoing humanitarian and social challenges, limited income opportunities, rising living costs, and the widespread unemployment and poverty resulting from the devastating war, which has deprived thousands of young people of the ability to complete their marriage arrangements.
The project contributed to enabling beneficiaries to begin their family lives with dignity and stability while reducing the financial burdens associated with marriage. It also helped strengthen community cohesion and support social recovery efforts for affected Palestinian families.
