On Thursday, Wafaa Development and Capacity Building in Palestine officially launched its University Student Support Project, benefiting 27 high-achieving orphaned students who excelled in the national high school exams. The students were nominated by the Ministry of Social Development, and the project is generously funded by the International Islamic Charitable Organization in the State of Kuwait.

In his remarks, Mr. Mohaisen Al-Atawneh, General Manager of Wafaa, emphasized that the project covers the full tuition fees for the first academic year of the selected students. He noted that this is a valuable opportunity for students to benefit not only from financial support, but also from a set of complementary programs designed to build their skills during their university journey and better prepare them for the labor market.
Dr. Ma’moun Rashed, the project supervisor, highlighted the importance of the services offered, which include:
-
A 21st Century Skills course
-
A Communication Skills in English course
-
A Specialized Reading Program (“Participant’s Library”) that provides each student with a curated collection of specialized books
-
A Cultural Exchange Program
-
A Community Service Volunteer Program in collaboration with student affairs departments
-

Notably, for the first time in Palestine, the project will introduce a Social Innovation Lab aimed at equipping students with skills in innovation and creativity to develop practical solutions for social challenges in the Palestinian context and transform them into applicable projects.
